The Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League ended the 1976 season with a record of 70 wins and 68 losses, finishing second in the league's West Division.

The Lookouts scored 534 runs and conceded 558 runs, most in the circuit. Mark Budaska drove in 55 runs. Derek Bryant led all regular batters with a .302 average. Brian Kingman topped the team with 14 wins and a team-best 2.64 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.
