The Charleston RiverDogs of the South Atlantic League ended the 1998 season with a record of 67 wins and 74 losses, finishing fifth in the league's Central Division.

The RiverDogs scored 685 runs and conceded 657 runs. Aubrey Huff and Paul Wilder paced Charleston with 13 home runs apiece. Jose Velazquez accounted for 64 RBI and topped all regular hitters with a .308 average. Dan Wheeler led the squad with 12 wins, while Todd Belitz recorded a 2.42 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.
