The Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League ended the 2001 season with a record of 61 wins and 79 losses, finishing sixth in the league's Northern Division.

The Shorebirds scored 565 runs and allowed 660 runs. Rick Elder paced Delmarva with 16 home runs and drove in 64 runs. Nick Garcia led all regular batters by connecting at a .262 clip. Matt Schwager topped the squad with 10 wins, while Dave Farren recorded a 3.94 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Players from the 2001 Delmarva Shorebirds who spent time in Major League Baseball during their careers included Mike Bordick, Sendy Rleal, Eddy Rodriguez and Eli Whiteside.
