The Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League ended the 2002 season with a record of 76 wins and 64 losses, finishing third in the league's Northern Division.

The Shorebirds plated 586 runs and yielded 575 runs. Alex Gordon paced Delmarva with 13 home runs Tripper Johnson accounted for 71 RBI. Adam Manley led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .262 clip. Kurt Birkins topped the team with 9 wins, while Ben Knapp earned a 3.19 ERA, tops among regularly-used pitchers.

Val Majewski, Pat Hentgen, John Maine, Kurt Birkins, Scott Rice, Rommie Lewis and Sendy Rleal were all players from the 2002 Delmarva Shorebirds who played in the Majors during their careers.
