The Danville Warriors of the Midwest League ended the 1972 season with a record of 73 wins and 52 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Warriors led the league with just 444 runs allowed. Danville scored 521 runs. Gary Martz and Charlie Moore paced the team with 12 home runs apiece. Gary Martz drove in 69 runs. Duane Espy topped batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .340 clip. Carl Austerman paced the squad with 16 wins and a team-best 2.23 earned run average, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Larry Anderson, Bill Castro, Tom Hausman, Sixto Lezcano, Gary Martz, Sam Mejías, Charlie Moore and Eduardo Rodríguez were all players from the 1972 Danville Warriors who played in the Majors during their careers.
