The El Paso Diablos of the Texas League ended the 1988 season with a record of 74 wins and 60 losses, finishing first in the league's West Division.

The Diablos plated 839 runs, tops in the circuit. El Paso conceded 767 runs. Greg Vaughn paced the squad with 28 home runs, while Joe Mitchell, George Canale and Gary Sheffield each walloped 15 or more also. Greg Vaughn drove in 105 runs. Mario Monico led all regular batters by hitting .342. Daniel Scarpetta topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 4.46 earned run average, leading regular hurlers.
