The Erie Sailors of the New York-Pennsylvania League ended the 1961 season with a record of 68 wins and 57 losses, finishing second in the NYPL.

Victor Horacio accounted for 84 RBI and topped batters with significant playing time with a .297 average. Timothy Wells and John Strzyzewski led the team with 14 wins each, while Jose Mejias recorded a 3.64 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Frank Quilici played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Erie Sailors to do so.
