The Las Vegas Stars of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1996 season with a record of 73 wins and 67 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Stars scored 654 runs, worst in the league, and allowed 711 runs. Jason Thompson led Las Vegas with 21 home runs, while Rob Deer and Sean Mulligan walloped 15 or more also. Sean Mulligan drove in 75 runs. Jason Thompson paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .300. Pete Smith topped the squad with 11 wins, and Mike Oquist recorded a 2.89 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
