The Memphis Chicks of the Southern League ended the 1982 season with a record of 70 wins and 74 losses, finishing third in the league's West Division.

The Chicks scored 701 runs, best in the league. Memphis gave up 729 runs, most in the circuit. Mike Fuentes walloped 37 home runs for the squad, while Jim Auten and Razor Shines added 15 or more also. Mike Fuentes drove in 115 runs. Rodney Nealeigh paced hitters with significant playing time by hitting .305. Mark Schuler topped the squad with 10 wins, and Bud Yanus earned a 3.57 ERA, best among regular hurlers.

Greg Bargar, Doug Capilla, Hal Dues, Rick Engle, Mike Fuentes, Rene Gonzales, Al Newman, David Palmer and Razor Shines were all players from the 1982 Memphis Chicks who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.

Rick Renick served as manager.
