The Modesto Reds of the California League ended the 1973 season with a record of 60 wins and 80 losses, finishing eighth in the CL.

The Reds tallied 659 runs and yielded 815 runs, most in the league. Mike Potter paced Modesto with 20 home runs, while Mike Vail walloped 15 or more as well. Mike Vail recorded 80 runs batted in.
