The Newark Bears of the Atlantic League ended the 2001 season with a record of 75 wins and 51 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division.

The Bears scored 642 runs and allowed 562 runs. Alonzo Powell led Newark with 16 home runs and drove in 59 runs. Ric Johnson paced all regular hitters with a .317 average. Jack Armstrong topped the squad with 13 wins, while Jason Pierson recorded a 2.86 ERA, best among qualifying pitchers.
