The Piedmont Boll Weevils of the South Atlantic League ended the 1998 season with a record of 76 wins and 65 losses, finishing third in the league's Central Division.

The Boll Weevils scored 704 runs and gave up 659 runs. Andy Dominique led Piedmont with 24 home runs and accounted for 102 RBI. Jeff Terrell paced batters with significant playing time with a .291 average. Kevin Shipp and Justin Fenus topped the squad with 10 wins each, while Brandon Duckworth earned a 2.81 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
