The Piedmont Boll Weevils of the South Atlantic League ended the 1997 season with a record of 70 wins and 72 losses, finishing fourth in the league's Central Division.

The Boll Weevils scored 624 runs and allowed 632 runs. Brad Crede led Piedmont with 10 home runs Dave Francia drove in 65 runs and topped batters with significant playing time with a .300 average. Buck Allen paced the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 3.55 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.

Members of the 1997 Piedmont Boll Weevils who played in Major League Baseball during their careers were Adam Eaton, Thomas Jacquez and Jimmy Rollins.

Ken Oberkfell served as manager.
