The Salt Lake City Angels of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1972 season with a record of 80 wins and 68 losses, finishing third in the league's East Division.

The Angels scored 762 runs and allowed 701 runs. Doug Howard led Salt Lake City with 24 home runs, while Jim Hutto and Billy Parker walloped 15 or more also. Doug Howard drove in 109 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .301 average. Bruce Heinbechner paced the squad with 13 wins, and Dick Lange recorded a 2.97 ERA, best among regular hurlers.
