The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League ended the 2008 season with a record of 74 wins and 66 losses, finishing first in the league's Liberty Division.

The Blue Crabs scored 734 runs and yielded 666 runs. Chris Maples led Southern Maryland with 25 home runs, while Jeremy Owens, John Ramistella and Pat Osborn each walloped 15 or more also. Pat Osborn drove in 106 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .326 clip. Ryan Bicondoa paced the squad with 13 wins, and Joe Gannon recorded a 3.17 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.

Members of the 2008 Southern Maryland Blue Crabs who played in Major League Baseball during their careers were Jason Pearson, Jeff Farnsworth, Greg Jones, Adam Johnson, Héctor Almonte, Eric Crozier, Matt Hensley, Curtis Pride, Dan Reichert, Damian Jackson, Brian Shackelford, John Halama and Pat Mahomes.
