The Salt Lake City Gulls of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1982 season with a record of 73 wins and 70 losses, finishing second in the league's South Division.

The Gulls scored 794 runs and allowed 850 runs. Orlando Mercado led Salt Lake City with 16 home runs, and Rod Allen walloped 15 or more as well. Rod Allen recorded 75 runs batted in and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .323 average. Rich Bordi and Matt Young paced the squad with 12 wins each, while Rich Bordi recorded a 4.5 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
