The Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League ended the 2008 season with a record of 71 wins and 68 losses, finishing third in the league's South Division.

The Warthogs scored 625 runs and gave up 679 runs. C. J. Retherford paced Winston-Salem with 16 home runs, while Brandon Allen and John Shelby walloped 15 or more as well. John Shelby drove in 80 runs. John Shelby and C. J. Retherford led batters with significant playing time with a .295 average. John Ely topped the squad with 10 wins, and Matt Long earned a 4.47 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Kanekoa Texeira, Nate Jones, Aaron Poreda, John Ely, Paulo Orlando, Brandon Allen, Bobby Jenks and Josh Fields were all players from the 2008 Winston-Salem Warthogs who played in the Majors during their careers.

Tim Blackwell served as manager.
