The Portsmouth-Norfolk Tides of the South Atlantic League ended the 1962 season with a record of 55 wins and 85 losses, finishing seventh in the SAL.

The Portsmouth- Tides scored 614 runs and allowed 822 runs, most in the circuit. Ron Cox led Norfolk with 23 home runs, while Marty Beltran, Salvador Betancourt and Frank Waite each walloped 15 or more, too. Ron Cox recorded 93 runs batted in. Marty Beltran paced batters with significant playing time by hitting .309. Marv Mecklenburg topped the team with 14 wins, and Dennis Aust recorded a 3.62 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
