Mayo Island Park

On Mayo Island, on the east side of the S. 14th Street (US 360) Bridge against the RR tracks.

The park had been used in the 1890's and, was again pressed into service when the team management had a falling out with the landlord at Lee Park early in the 1921 season. A 1924 map shows the park just SE of the Virginia Boat Club. There was a wide grandstand with uncovered seats in front, and bleacher sections well down both foul lines. The clubhouse was in the RF corner. The James River flanked the 1B line. The catcher faced NE.
