The new Sec Taylor Stadium is on the same site as old Sec Taylor Stadium. Additions in 1995, 2000, 2002 have added sky boxes, club houses, and a new playing surface. The ballpark has earned many awards for the Iowa Cubs. In 1996, Baseball America ranked Principal Park as one of the best minor league ballparks in the country, and did so again in 1998. The stadium was also regarded as the minor league facility with the best view. The $12 million rebuilding effort began with the demolition of the old stadium on Sept. 10, 1991. The first game in the new venue was April 16, 1992. The largest single-game crowd to witness a game at Principal Park came on June 8, 2007, when 15,188 fans packed the park to watch a fireworks show.
