Terry Park was named for Mrs. Tootie McGregor Terry, who donated the land to the county in 1906. The old park played host to Philadelphia Athletic spring training activities for 12 seasons, beginning in 1925. The new park was built in 1955 for Pittsburgh Pirates spring training games. It had a large enough roof to permit a full house to get under cover when it rained. Opened March 12, 1925, the grandstand was torn down in 2004.
