The Albuquerque Dukes of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1979 season with a record of 86 wins and 62 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Dukes scored 876 runs, most in the league. Albuquerque yielded 786 runs. Pedro Guerrero paced the team with 22 home runs and accounted for 103 RBI. Mickey Hatcher topped all regular hitters by connecting at a .371 clip. Bill Swiacki led the squad with 13 wins, while Kevin Keefe recorded a 3.42 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.
