The Asheville Tourists of the Southern League ended the 1964 season with a record of 52 wins and 86 losses, finishing eighth in the SL.

The Tourists tallied 619 runs and yielded 706 runs, most in the league. José Martínez paced Asheville with 20 home runs, while Elmo Plaskett, George Spriggs, Don Bosch and Edward Sada each walloped 15 or more also. José Martínez accounted for 78 RBI. George Spriggs topped hitters with significant playing time by connecting at a .322 clip. Ken Larsen led the squad with 12 wins, and Jim Shellenback registered a 3.53 earned run average, leading qualifying pitchers.

Ron Blackburn, Don Bosch, Dick Colpaert, Bert Cueto, Mike Derrick, John Gelnar, José Martínez, Jerry May, Roberto Peña, Elmo Plaskett, Buddy Pritchard, Dave Roberts, Jim Shellenback, George Spriggs, Luke Walker, Gary Waslewski and Ron Woods were all players from the 1964 Asheville Tourists who played in the Majors during their careers.
