The Asheville Tourists of the Southern League ended the 1970 season with a record of 59 wins and 80 losses, finishing eighth in the SL.

The Tourists scored 404 runs and conceded 498 runs. Gregg Slape led Asheville with 10 home runs Bill Ferguson drove in 51 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .280 clip. Charles Higgins paced the squad with 11 wins, while Ron Crook earned a 2.36 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Ozzie Osborn, Steve Blateric, Gene Locklear, Ramón Conde, Mike Johnson, Bo Belinsky, Danny Godby, Sonny Ruberto and Dave Tomlin were all players from the 1970 Asheville Tourists who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
