The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 1985 season with a record of 76 wins and 62 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division.

The Tourists scored 694 runs and conceded 597 runs. Pete Mueller led Asheville with 28 home runs, and Joe Mikulik walloped 15 or more, too. Pete Mueller drove in 93 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .297 clip. Jeff Livin paced the team with 15 wins, while Chris Huchingson registered a 3.13 earned run average, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Members of the 1985 Asheville Tourists who played in Major League Baseball during their careers were Dan Walters, Mel Stottlemyre and Tom Funk.

Fred Hatfield served as manager.
