The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 1988 season with a record of 65 wins and 75 losses, finishing third in the league's North Division.

The Tourists scored 632 runs and surrendered 644 runs. Eric Anthony led Asheville with 29 home runs and drove in 89 runs, while leading all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .273 clip. Harold Allen topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 2.83 ERA, best among qualifying pitchers.
