The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 1991 season with a record of 55 wins and 83 losses, finishing seventh in the league's North Division.

Jimmy White led batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .256 clip. Jim Dougherty played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Asheville Tourists to do so.
