The Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League ended the 1982 season with a record of 63 wins and 80 losses, finishing fifth in the league's West Division.

The Lookouts scored 594 runs and conceded 668 runs. Tim Glass led Chattanooga with 20 home runs and recorded 88 runs batted in. Dwight Taylor paced all regular batters with a .289 average. Robin Fuson topped the team with 14 wins, while Mike Jeffcoat recorded a 2.88 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
