The Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League ended the 1984 season with a record of 63 wins and 81 losses, finishing fifth in the league's West Division.

The Lookouts scored 604 runs, worst in the league, and gave up 629 runs. Kevin King led Chattanooga with 13 home runs Mickey Brantley accounted for 76 RBI and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .316 average. Lee Guetterman and Rick Luecken paced the squad with 11 wins each, while Tom Rowe earned a 3.18 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.

Members of the 1984 Chattanooga Lookouts who played in Major League Baseball during their careers were John Moses, Terry Bell, Lee Guetterman, Paul Serna, Mario Díaz, Rick Luecken, Brick Smith, Donell Nixon, Mickey Brantley and Ross Grimsley.
