The Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League ended the 1985 season with a record of 66 wins and 77 losses, finishing third in the league's West Division.

The Lookouts scored 640 runs and conceded 707 runs. Randy Braun led Chattanooga with 22 home runs, while Paul Hollins and Dave Hengel walloped 15 or more as well. Randy Braun drove in 100 runs and topped all regular batters with a .314 average. Randy Newman paced the squad with 13 wins, and Jed Murray recorded a 3.53 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Mario Díaz, Daniel Firova, Ross Grimsley, Dave Hengel, Edgar Martínez, Rusty McNealy, Brick Smith, Bill Swift and Terry Taylor were all players from the 1985 Chattanooga Lookouts who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.

Bill Plummer served as manager.
