The Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League ended the 2009 season with a record of 73 wins and 66 losses, finishing third in the league's Northern Division.

The Hillcats scored 643 runs and allowed 621 runs. Pedro Álvarez led Lynchburg with 14 home runs Jordy Mercer drove in 83 runs. Matt Hague paced hitters with significant playing time by connecting at a .293 clip. Matt McSwain topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 3.44 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.
