The Peninsula Grays of the Carolina League ended the 1966 season with a record of 63 wins and 75 losses, finishing fourth in the league's East Division.
The Grays tallied 539 runs and allowed 630 runs, most in the league. Johnny Bench paced Peninsula with 22 home runs, while Bernie Carbo walloped 15 or more, too. Johnny Bench drove in 68 runs. Hal McRae topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .287. Richard Sadler led the squad with 11 wins, and Steve Mingori recorded a 2.5 ERA, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.
