Red Elm Park was built in 1896. Overflow crowds were accommodated behind ropes in LF. Seating capacity was increased when the park was modernized in 1921. A 1907 map shows the grandstand extended well down the RF line. A long, narrow bleacher area curled around the LF corner. The catcher faced NE. A 1951 map shows Russwood Park with a deep grandstand, rebuilt on the site of the old grandstand. The park was destroyed by a huge fire on April 17, 1960, after an exhibition game between the White Sox and Indians. A medical center now occupies the site.
