MacArthur Stadium was built in 1934. The catcher faced NE. A 1950 map shows a large concrete and steel grandstand with a wood roof on steel frames. While the press box was on the roof, the concessions, rest rooms, dressing rooms and lockers were underneath the grandstand. A large bleacher section sat along the 3B line, constructed with a steel frame and wooden seats and flooring. A groundkeeper tool shed flanked the grandstand down the 1B line. The park was devastated by fire May 15, 1969. For several years, there were no stands directly behind home plate. After the wooden OF fences were destroyed by a windstorm in 1945, new stud and metal fences, somewhat closer to home plate, were built.
