The Asheville Tourists of the Western Carolinas League ended the 1977 season with a record of 81 wins and 58 losses, finishing second in the WCL.

The Tourists led the circuit with 817 runs, powered by 101 home runs. Asheville allowed 710 runs, most in the league. Dave Rivera paced the squad with 26 home runs, while Bobby Hallgren and Wayne Wilkerson walloped 15 or more also. Dave Rivera drove in 118 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .346 clip. Mike Griffin paced the team with 17 wins, plus Steve Finch, too added 15 or more wins, too Steve Finch recorded a 2.92 ERA, leading regular hurlers.
